The Burdett-Coutts Memorial Sundial, erected in 1879 in the churchyard of St Pancras Old Church in London, bears the motto Tempus Edax Rerum, Time (is) the Devourer of Things.

The phrase Tempus Edax Rerum isfrom Ovid's Metamorphoses; for more about the phrase in Ovid, see this post at Laudator Temporis Acti.
